Airport to City Center
Traveling from Airport to the city center is a seamless journey that epitomizes Swiss efficiency. Zurich Kloten Airport, is exceptionally well-connected to the heart of the city. With a swift and reliable train service, passengers can whisk themselves from the airport terminal to Zurich’s bustling Hauptbahnhof (main train station) in a mere 15 minutes.
These modern and comfortable trains operate at regular intervals, ensuring travelers can swiftly begin their adventure or business engagement. The convenience of this transit option means that whether arriving for the first time or making a quick stopover, Zurich’s captivating blend of culture, history, and contemporary life is always easily accessible.
Step by Step
Step 1: Exiting the Airport. Upon arrival at Zurich Airport, follow the signs to the main terminal building if you’re not already there.
Step 2: Head to the Train Station. Inside the airport terminal, follow the signs for “Bahnhof” (train station). Airport has its own train station located beneath the airport complex, which is very convenient.
Step 3: Purchase a Ticket. At the train station, you’ll find ticket machines. Use these machines to purchase a ticket to Zurich Hauptbahnhof (Zurich HB), which is the main train station in the city. You can select your language for the ticket machine, and they accept cash and credit cards.
Step 4: Board the Train. Once you have your ticket, proceed to the platform area. Look for trains heading to Zurich HB. These trains are frequent, and you don’t need to worry much about schedules. City is well-connected, and there are typically trains departing every few minutes.
Step 5: Enjoy the Ride. Board the train, and find a seat. The journey to Zurich HB from the airport takes approximately 10-15 minutes. During this time, you can enjoy scenic views of the Swiss countryside.
Step 6: Arriving at Zurich Hauptbahnhof (HB). The train will announce Zurich HB as the final stop. Disembark at Zurich HB, and follow the signs to exit the train station.
Step 7: Explore. Congratulations, you’ve arrived in the heart of Zurich! From Zurich HB, you can easily explore the city’s attractions, shopping districts, restaurants, and more on foot or by using the city’s excellent public transportation system.
Keep in mind that Zurich HB is a central transportation hub with connections to trams, buses, and other train lines, making it easy to reach different parts of Zurich and other Swiss cities if you plan to continue your journey beyond Zurich.
Old Town (Altstadt)
