Last year, we embarked on an unforgettable journey from Phoenix to Waikiki, Hawaii, eager to explore the breathtaking beauty of the islands. As we boarded our Hawaiian Airlines direct flight, we couldn’t contain our excitement. Upon arrival, we made our way to Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa, one of the most beautiful places in Hawaii, and our home for the duration of our stay. With its pristine white sand beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and swaying palm trees, Waikiki Beach exceeded all our expectations.

One aspect that caught my attention was the made-to-order concept. The interactive experience of watching the skilled chefs hand-make the udon noodles right in front of you adds a level of authenticity and freshness to the dining experience. The noodles themselves are cooked to perfection, with a satisfying chewy texture that pairs perfectly with the flavorful broths.
Speaking of broths, Marugame Udon Hawaii offers a range of choices, from classic dashi-based broths to rich and savory options like beef and curry. During our trip, we stumbled upon Surf N Turf Tacos while making our way back to the hotel from a scuba shop nearby. If you’re in the mood for no-frills, the best Oahu Mexican food, this is the place to go. The food here is undeniably tasty, although the price point may be a bit higher considering the no-frills concept. However, given its central and convenient location, it’s worth the splurge. The portion sizes are reasonable, ensuring you’ll leave satisfied. Located just north of the Waikiki Beach area on Kuhio, it’s a decent spot to enjoy relatively inexpensive Mexican cuisine.
While the vegetarian taco fell short of expectations, as it mainly consisted of vegetables without any additional fillings like tofu, the quesadilla was quite good. The tacos were the highlight for me, with fantastic flavors in both the fresh fried shrimp and kalbi steak options. I highly recommend this place for a quick and simple lunch.
Although the topping selections may be basic, the quality of the meats used in the tacos is exceptional. If you find yourself in Waikiki, make sure to give Surf N Turf Tacos a try. She says one aspect that stands out is the wide selection of poke bowl flavors and combinations available.
